The traditional lithium battery is made of graphite and lithium metal oxide (Lithium Metal Oxide) as the cathode and anode. Since the storage capacity of these two materials is low, after the current technology is developed, the storage capacity is near the limit, so the electric motor The battery storage capacity of the car does not increase much.
Therefore, the Korean research team decided to use a new material to make the battery anode and cathode, using helium and sulfur. In particular, scientists have added selenium to protect the tantalum cathode, and then developed a cathode with lithium and antimony, and made the anode with sulfur and selenium.
The latest lithium battery can store about 500 mAh of electricity per gram, compared to only 100-150 mAh per gram of battery on the market. This means that the electric car can run 300 kilometers per charge, which is twice as far as the average electric car.
Not only that, after the new lithium battery is charged and discharged for 1,500 times, the battery capacity will only shrink by 19%. In other words, if the user recharges once a day, it can be used for 4 years without replacing the battery; if the new lithium battery is applied to the smartphone, the weight of the mobile phone can be reduced by half.
