The connection is firm: The connection of the battery must be firm, and the connector must be in good contact to prevent the charge and discharge from causing sparks to burst the battery. The battery covers, terminals, and lead bars should be clean and free from dirt, corrosion, and burns.

Securely fixed: The battery should be fixed on the locomotive to avoid strong vibrations. It is best secured with rubber, felt, etc. Otherwise, the battery is susceptible to vibration when the vehicle is in motion, causing the plates, insulation plates, wires to loosen or the housing to rupture. 

Add the electrolyte: After the new battery is added with the electrolyte, it should be left to stand for 4~8 hours before recharging, so that the electrolyte can saturate the plate, and it is also convenient for cooling. When mixing electrolyte, it is forbidden to pour water into sulfuric acid. Only sulfuric acid can be poured into water to avoid causing explosion burns.

The pores are unblocked: The pores on the liquid injection cover should be kept open. Otherwise, the increased pressure in the battery can cause the battery case and the battery cover to burst.

Maintain the voltage: The voltage of each cell of the battery can't be lower than 1.7 volts, can't discharge the electricity even more, winter must pay attention even more, in case the electrolyte freezes, damage the accumulator battery.

Scientific startup: The battery should not be over-discharged and the start-up time should not exceed 10 seconds. If it cannot be started at a time, it should be performed 0.5 to 1 minute before the second time. The continuous start can't exceed 3 times. If it still can't start, check the other parts of the engine for problems.

Strictly prevent grounding: It is forbidden to place metal objects or tools on the battery cover. When disassembling, remove the battery's ground wire and reverse the installation.

Prudent discharge: The battery shall not be violently discharged. The interval between two starts shall be greater than 2 minutes. The warm-up time for starting the glow plug shall not exceed 40 seconds.

Do not cut work: When the generator is working, the connection to the battery must not be cut off.

Liquid level inspection: always check the electrolyte liquid level, the electrolyte should be 10 to 15 mm above the upper plate, when it is not enough, clean distilled water should be added, and it is absolutely forbidden to add river water, spring water, well water and tap water.

Scientific preservation: When the locomotive is parked, the battery should be removed, stored in the room, and recharged on a regular basis. It is advisable to charge it once a month to prevent the vulcanization of the plates, and the ground wire should be removed. Do not stack debris, tools, etc. on the battery cover. Clean the cover with 20% alkaline water and keep it clean and dry.
