Lithium-ion polymer batteries were introduced in 1994 and use a gel polymer electrolyte, a concept originally developed by Bellcore. At present, the principle of lithium-ion batteries and the electrochemical reaction in the charging and discharging process are basically the same as that of liquid lithium-ion batteries, but the gel polymer electrolyte is used.

2. Characteristics of Polymer Li-ion Batteries

Based on lithium-ion batteries, polymer lithium-ion batteries have the following characteristics in addition to those of lithium-ion batteries:

Plastic elasticity is good, can be made into various shapes of batteries;

Safe and reliable, not easy to burn;

3. Development and types of lithium-ion batteries

Now, China has been able to produce polymer lithium-ion batteries, but it is important to improve on the basis of liquid lithium-ion batteries, and Japanese companies some different types of gel polymer lithium-ion batteries, in a way, can only say half (quasi-) gel polymer lithium-ion batteries, some flexible packaging can also be said to be liquid lithium-ion batteries.
