According to the IEC61960 standard, a lithium-ion battery identification consists of three letters and several numbers.
- ** The letter indicates the negative electrode material of the battery, I: lithium ion battery, L: lithium metal electrode or lithium alloy electrode.
- The second letter indicates the battery positive electrode material, C: cobalt based electrode, N: nickel based electrode, M: manganese based electrode, V: vanadium based electrode.
- The third letter indicates the shape of the battery, R: cylindrical battery, P: square battery.
- digital.
-
- The cylindrical battery model is represented by a 5-digit number, which indicates the diameter and height of the battery. The first two digits represent the diameter, the last two digits represent the height, the diameter is in mm, the height is 0.1 mm, and the diameter or height is greater than any size. When it is equal to 100mm, a diagonal line should be added between the two sizes.
- The square battery model is represented by a 6-digit number. The first two digits indicate the thickness of the battery, the middle two digits indicate the width, and the last two digits indicate the height in mm. When any one of the three sizes is greater than or equal to 100 mm, a diagonal line shall be added between the sizes. If any of the three sizes is less than 1 mm, the letter t is added before the size, and the unit of the size is 0.1 mm.
- The model of the button battery is represented by a 4-digit number. The first two digits indicate the diameter, the last two digits indicate the height, the diameter is in mm, and the height is 0.1 mm.
E.g: ICR18650 represents a cylindrical secondary lithium ion battery having a positive electrode material of cobalt having a diameter of about 18 mm and a height of about 65 mm. ICP083448 represents a square secondary lithium ion battery having a positive electrode material of cobalt having a thickness of about 8 mm, a width of about 34 mm, and a height of about 48 mm. ICP08/34/150 represents a square secondary lithium ion battery with a positive electrode material of cobalt, a thickness of about 8 mm, a width of about 34 mm, and a height of about 150 mm. ICPt73448 represents a square secondary lithium ion battery with a positive electrode material of cobalt having a thickness of about 0.7 mm, a width of about 34 mm, and a height of about 48 mm.
